Unknown Fish Identification


Rock bass (Ambloplites rupestris) - rows of dark spots on sides, large eye that turns blueish after preservation,black margined anal fin


Telescope shiner (Notropis telescopus) - Large eye, stitched line along side, lack of dark blotch under chin (see first above) that would distinguish it from a popeye shiner

Torrent Sucker (Thoburnia rothoeca) - distinct coloration difference between ventral and dorsal portions, two small pale circles on the end of the caudal peduncle


Stoneroller (Campostoma anomalum) - Horseshoe shaped mouth


Mottled Sculpin (Cottus bairdi) - Bands down the side that are not complete ventrally, lack of mottled pigmentation under chin

Greenside darter (Ethiostoma blenniodes) - "U" shaped blotches along the sides, blunt nose
